THE SERIES
- Friday marks the 73rd meeting all-time between Tennessee and Kentucky in a series that dates back to 1973. The Wildcats lead the series 44-28 and won last year's match in Lexington by a 3-0 score line. Tennessee has dropped four of its last five to UK.
- Oct. 6, 2013: The 19th ranked Wildcats swept their way past Tennessee at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington. Lexi Dempsey finished the match with 25 assists and 10 digs -- her 11th double-double of the season to that point.
- Oct. 26, 2012: Facing a 2-0 deficit, Kentucky took the final three sets to snare a 3-2 win at Thompson-Boling Arena.
- Nov. 23, 2011: No. 15 Tennessee knocked off No. 16 Kentucky, 3-1, to seal the SEC regular season crown in front of 1,648 fans at Thompson-Boling Arena. The victory was the 12th straight for UT as it closed out the season at 27-3 overall with a 19-1 conference mark.
TENNESSEE (7-11, 0-4 SEC)
- Tennessee enters the weekend off tough, 3-1 loss to Alabama last Sunday in Knoxville. After falling behind 2-0 to begin the match, UT took game three and held three set-points in game four before bowing out at 29-27 to give Alabama the match.
- Jamie Lea had 11 kills in the match, her highest kill total since registering 14 at Coastal Carolina on Sept. 13.
- As a team, Tennessee sent in 10 service aces against the Crimson Tide. That figure is a season-high and is the most produced by a Lady Vol squad in a single match since 2011.
- Five of those aces came off the hand of freshman Kelsey Bawcombe -- another season-high for UT and the highest individual output for Tennessee since the 2012 season.
- Lea (138), Kendra Turner (113), and Kanisha Jimenez (107) all have over 100 kills on the season for the Lady Vols. Jimenez and Lea also have reached triple digits in digs with 162 and 100, respectively.
- Lexi Dempsey is only five assists shy of 1,500 for her career and 36 away from moving into eighth on Tennessee's all-time assists list.
KENTUCKY (14-2, 4-0 SEC)
- Tennessee faces an opponent ranked inside the AVCA Top 25 for the second straight weekend when it hosts No. 13 Kentucky at Thompson-Boling Arena. The No. 13 ranking is the highest for UK since 2011.
- UK is in first place in the SEC standings and is riding an eight-match winning streak. The Wildcats swept No. 19 Texas A&M in Lexington its last time out.
- UK's roster features the two reigning SEC Players of the Week as junior Morgan Bergren was named Offensive POW and senior Jackie Napper earned Defensive POW honors on Monday.
- Junior Shelby Workman currently ranks third in the SEC in kills per set at 3.44. She delivered 19 kills against Alabama last week and 15 against Texas A&M.
- The Wildcats have appeared in the last nine NCAA Tournaments, including a run into the second round last season.
