Gibson Slams 2 HR In USA Win

Gibson has now homered three times in her last two games, dating to the Canadian Open in British Columbia earlier this week.

WHITEHORSE, Yukon -- UT's Lauren Gibson smacked two home runs and went 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs as Team USA opened the ISF World Championships with a 7-0 win over Venezuela in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada on Friday. USA plays the Czech Republic Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Gibson has now homered three times in her last two games, dating to the Canadian Open in British Columbia earlier this week.

The Lady Vols' second basemen opened the game with a solo blast in the first inning and kept on hitting all afternoon. She singled home Amanda Chidester in the third inning to give USA a 3-0 lead.

Gibson blasted another round-tripper in the fifth inning to lead off the frame and put the Eagles up 4-0. She finished the day with another single in the seventh as USA cruised to the shutout win on a one-hitter by Keilani Ricketts.
