Gibson & Team USA Defeat Australia 3-1

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Lady Vols rising senior and Team USA infielder Lauren Gibson went 2-for-3 as USA defeated Australia, 3-1 in their second game of the World Cup of Softball VII presented by Lumber Liquidators on ESPN.
Gibson singled in the third inning and drove in the Eagles' second run with a double to centerfield in the fourth. That put the stars and stripes ahead, 2-0.
Team USA opened the scoring on a Valerie Arioto homer with one out in the fourth inning before Gibson extended the lead to two. Australia scored its lone run in the top of the fifth, but USA answered in the bottom of the frame to regain the lead of 3-1.
USA will take on the Netherlands at 12 Noon ET on Saturday. That game will air on delay starting at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and Canada at 7 p.m. ET That game will air on ESPN.
