Former Tennessee diver Michael Wright finished the USA Diving World Championship Trials on Sunday in fourth place.
The Forest Park, Ill., native earned a 12-dive score of 742.15 points on the 1-meter springboard.
"He came out of the gates a little sluggish this afternoon," diving coach Dave Parrington said. "He finished up strong with his last three dives but was unable to close the gap. Overall, I think he put forth a very strong effort at his first competition of this stature."
Former Georgia diver Chris Colwill won the event with 878.15 points while former Alabama diver Aaron Fleshner finished second with 770.25 points. The pair will represent Team USA on at the World Championships in Shanghai later this summer.
