The Tennessee diving team finished up its weekend at the Zone B Diving Championships on Saturday with the men's platform event.
Junior Ryan Helms and sophomore Jordan Mauney were the lone Vols to make the final round of the event at Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium. Helms finished 11th with a score of 623.80 points while Mauney came in 12th with 618.05 points.
"Ryan did a solid job today and I'm pleased with his performance," diving coach Dave Parrington said. "Jordan Mauney did an excellent job with a career-best with his second list. He did a nice job of competing up there today and even though he didn't qualify I am proud of how he performed."
Senior Michael Wright finished 22nd with a score of 184.60 points.
"Mike strained a muscle in warm ups so we went with a very easy list in prelims," Parrington said.
Knoxville-native Brent Sterling did not compete Saturday after battling a flu-like illness.
After the three-day qualifier for the NCAAs, Helms and Wright both earned spots at the national championships later this month. Wright punched his ticket on the 1-meter while Helms qualified on the 3-meter. The NCAA championships are hosted by Minnesota.
"We'll come back home and start getting ready for the NCAA championships," Parrington said. "We had a pretty good week and now Mike and Ryan will get back to work."
