Three Vols Make 1-Meter Finals

At the conclusion of the men's 1-meter preliminaries on Friday, the first day of the 2011 SEC Diving Championships, three UT divers made the cut to compete in the championship round.
Junior Ryan Helms finished third in the opening round at Florida's O'Connell Center Natatorium. The Moultrie, Ga., native scored 353.60 points as the Vols top finisher.
Senior Michael Wright was right behind Helms in fourth place with 351.30 points. Sophomore Brent Sterling finished sixth with 340.85 points.
Sophomore Jordan Mauney finished 12th with 301.30 points. The Signal Mountain native will compete again during Saturday's 3-meter preliminary.
