Swim Assistant Hendee Battling Cancer

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--Longtime assistant swimming coach Joe Hendee was recently diagnosed with brain cancer at Knoxville's Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.

"I'm ready for the fight," Hendee said. "Shelli, Claire, Caroline and I have felt all the thoughts, concerns and prayers of our Tennessee family and we so much appreciate them."

The Chattanooga native is in his 28th year as an assistant at Tennessee and his 33rd overall season with the program.

Hendee will take a leave of absence while he battles this disease.
