2010-11 Vols Preseason Information
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--The Tennessee swimming and diving team announced its 2010-11 schedule here Tuesday. After the annual Orange and White Meet on Oct. 14, the Vols begin their regular season with an Oct. 21 contest against Louisville.
During the first half of the season, the Big Orange square off on the road against Cumberlands, Kentucky and Ohio State in dual meets, and face Alabama, Kentucky and Virginia Tech at home in the Tennessee Invitational.
"The first part of our dual-meet schedule should provide an appropriate challenge for our team," head coach John Trembley said. "College dual meets are a great reward for training hard all summer and fall.
"And there is no place like Knoxville in America that offers such an exciting venue--we bust out of locker room to Rocky Top and the beauty and aesthetics of the Allan Jones Center add so much magic to our meets."
After hosting the UT Diving Invitational Jan. 3-5, the Vols host meets with Virginia, Georgia and Indiana before meeting SEC-East rival Florida in Gainesville.
The Southeastern Conference Championships are hosted by Florida on Feb. 16-19.
The 2011 Men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships are slated March 25-27 at Minnesota.
According to Trembley, the Vols have lots of potential as the new season approaches.
"We took our lumps last season," Trembley said. "With a strong returning group, a great freshman class and five redshirts back in action--it's go time in Tennessee."
