Vols Earn Road Win at Cumberlands

The Tennessee swimming and diving team topped Cumberlands 87-59, on Friday, in the first road meet of the season.
"We had a great win here," head coach John Trembley. "A few of guys really stood out today. Derek Paul had a great meet and really showed the work he's put in during practice. He has made some excellent technique changes."
Paul had the first wins of his Tennessee career. The McCordsville, Ind., native won the 100 I.M. in 54.60 seconds and earned his second win of the day in the 50 breaststroke with a 27.15-second time.
Senior Chris Winchell had a stellar performance in the 50 backstroke, winning in 24.73 seconds. He also swam to a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of one minute 43.39 seconds.
"Chris Winchell swam very technically sound in the backstroke," Trembley said. "He had some excellent work of the walls."
Freshman Clint Johnson also earned his first win as a Vol, claiming first place in the 50 freestyle in 22.09 seconds.
The Vols continue their road trip Saturday in Lexington, Ky., with SEC East foe Kentucky. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
