As the Tennessee swimming and diving team prepares to host the Tennessee Invitational, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America released its first poll of the 2009-10 season. The Vols begin the year ranked No. 10.
This year's invite will mark the second annual Tennessee Invitational held in the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. The Big Orange welcome Alabama, Kentucky and Virginia Tech to The Hill for what is expected to be an exciting weekend of competition. The three-day meet will feature preliminary rounds at 10 a.m. on Thursday and Friday and championship rounds those days at 6 p.m. On Saturday the preliminary will begin at 9 a.m. and the finals at 3 p.m.
Tennessee (4-0, 3-0 SEC), will defend the home waters in an attempt to remain perfect in the new pool. The Vols are 8-0 on Rocky Top since the opening of the AJIAC.
Last year's Tennessee Invitational was an epic display of dominance as the Vols cruised to a first place finish while winning every event at the meet.
The Big Orange already faced Kentucky in the pool this season in a 180-120 Tennessee win in Knoxville, Oct. 30.
