Tennessee-Louisville Dual-Meet Notes
The 1-0 Tennessee men's swimming and diving travels for the second week in row to face Louisville on Friday.
"We match up well with this Louisville team," head coach John Trembley said. "I like our team's attitude since the LSU meet last Friday. We have worked hard this week and we are looking forward to heading to Louisville."
The Vols are led by two of the SEC's athletes of the week. Tuesday the conference named junior Brad Craig the Swimmer of the Week and sophomore Ryan Helms the Diver of the Week for their performances at LSU.
"We are all very excited for Brad Craig and Ryan Helms," Trembley said. "Those are great accolades for two of Tennessee's finest."
Tennessee has a sterling record against Big East opponents. All-time the Vols are 20-0 against teams that now comprise the Big East Conference, including a perfect 6-0 against Louisville. The Big Orange rolled past the Cardinals last season in Knoxville, 185-113.
However, the statistics aren't on the team's radar. After a tough dual-meet win last Friday, the UT swimmers and divers are focusing on coming together as a unit and working hard each week to improve throughout the season.
"We always go into an away meet knowing that our opponent is anticipating a victory," Trembley said. "We have a sense of purpose. We are focused and absolutely healthy. We are looking fit and strong. Overall, we just have to step up and be a little better each week."
