Eight Vols to Compete in U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials??

Eight current and former Vols will try to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Swim team when they compete at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials from June 29 to July 6 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb.
Nolan Morrell and Michael Wolfe both qualified to compete in four events at the trials. Morrell will paricipate in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Wolfe will compete in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 100 fly and 200 fly.
Morrell earned All-America honors for his efforts on UT???s third-place 800 freestyle relay, fifth-place 200 freestyle relay and sixth-place 400 freestyle relay at the 2008 NCAA Championships. He was awarded Honorable Mention All-America for his performance in the 100 and 200 freestyle.
Wolfe earned All-America honors at the NCAA Championships for his efforts on the third-place 800 freestyle relay and sixth-place 400 medley relay, and for his individual sixth-place effort in the 200 butterfly.
Brad Craig will attempt to make the team in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 200 I.M. The two-time SEC Freshman of the Week swam a season-best 54.20 in the 100 breaststroke at the NCAA Championships.
Geoff Sanders rounds out the Vol contingent trying to make the squad in more than one event. Sanders will swim in the 400 and 1500 freestyle competitions. At the 2008 SEC Championships, he took ninth in the 1650 freestyle (15:14.84) and 10th in the 500 freestyle (4:21.21).
Former Vol Brad Boswell will swim in the 100 backstroke. The four-year letterwinner from 2004-07 garnered 14 All-America honors during his career at Tennessee.
Michael Christy will compete in the 200 I.M. The Indianapolis native placed ninth in the SEC Championships with a season-best 1:47.10 in the 200 I.M.
Michael DeRocco will swim the 100 butterfly at the trials. DeRocco???s top time in his freshman campaign at Tennessee was 47.70 at the SEC Championships.
Finally, Carl Jones will join Sanders in the 1500 freestyle. Jones took him 12th place at the SEC Championships with a time of 15:20.49.
