UT to host USA Diving Olympic Team Camp

Tennessee will host the selection camp for the United States??? 2008 Olympic Diving Team July 2-6 at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. Many of the nation???s best divers will compete during the five-day event, including the winners of last week???s Olympic Team Trials: David Boudia, Troy Dumais, Christina Loukas and Laura Wilkinson.
Those four divers must again prove their competitive mettle in order to hang on to their Olympic roster spots. The remaining spots on the team will be determined by the selection committee, which will observe each competition before convening to make its selections.
The 2008 selection camp will be the first event held at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. It will also be the fourth Olympic or international aquatic event hosted by UT. The previous events held on campus were the 1972 U.S. Olympic swim team training camp, the 1976 Olympic Diving Trials and the 1982 McDonald???s USA-USSR Dual Meet. All of those events were held at the UT Student Aquatic Center.
Competition begins with the first two lists of the men???s and women???s 10 meter synchronized event Wednesday at 7 p.m. The first two lists of the men???s and women???s three meter dive and three meter synchronized competition will be contested on the second day, July 3, beginning at noon. Action on July 4 includes the first two lists of the men???s and women???s 10 meter dive and the final 10 meter synchronized competition beginning at noon. The three meter competitions conclude on July 5 beginning at noon, and the 10 meter individual competitions wrap up July 6, also at noon.
The 2008 U.S. Olympic team will be announced at a press conference Monday, July 7, at noon.
Single-day passes are available for $12 for adults and $6 for anyone under 18. Passes for the entire event are $40 for adults and $20 for anyone under 18.

Press Conference:??
USAC will hold a press conference at 12 p.m. on Monday, July 7 to announce the members of the U.S. Olympic team. It will be held at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
TV/Photo:??
A location on the second level will be set aside for video and still photography. Neither will be allowed at pool level during competition.
Media Workroom/Interview Room:??
There will be a workroom available for use by the media at pool level throughout the competition. Interviews can be conducted in this area following each competition.
