Seven Aqua Vols Garner SEC Acclaim

Seven Tennessee swimmers were named to the first and second All-Southeastern Conference teams this week after the coaches voted at the SEC Championships in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Nolan Morrell, Jonas Persson, Andrew Thirlwell and Michael Wolfe earned first-team honors while Barry Murphy, Octavio Alesi and Michael DeRocco were named to the second team.
A swimmer was named to the first team if he won an event and was named to the second team if placing second. Morrell, Persson, Thirlwell and Wolfe made the first team for their efforts on the victorious 800 freestyle relay. Wolfe also won the 100 backstroke. Murphy placed second with the 200 and 400 freestyle relays as well as the 200 and 400 medley relays. DeRocco too finished second with the 200 and 400 freestyle relays while Alesi helped the 200 and 400 medley relays to a second-place finish.
