Maurer Joins UT Athletics as Sports Nutritionist

The University of Tennessee Athletics Department announced today that Allison Maurer has joined the staff as the sports nutritionist for men???s and women???s athletics.

Maurer???s responsibilities include analyzing student-athlete???s eating habits, developing nutritional meal plans and educating athletes about proper nutrition as it relates to lifestyle and sport performance.

Maurer comes to UT from the University of Colorado, where she has been the sports nutritionist and an assistant strength and conditioning coach since 2004.

We always strive to ensure that our student-athletes receive the best possible care, medically and otherwise,??? said Tyler Johnson, assistant athletics director for operations. ???We feel Allison???s skills and experience will be an invaluable asset to our programs through the care and education she will provide for our student-athletes and their dietary habits.???

Maurer received a bachelor???s degree in dietetics from Olivet Nazarene University and a master???s degree in nutrition from Georgia State University. She comes to Knoxville with her husband Dan, former assistant baseball coach at Colorado Christian University, and their 10-month old son, Manny.
