Vols Have Five Qualified for U.S. Olympic Trials

There will be a hint of orange in the pool at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in Long Beach, Calif., July 7-14. as five Vols earned qualifying spots. Four of the five Vols competing will be swimming for Tennessee Aquatics, the university's club team.
Junior Josh Fulton and sophomore Bryan Goldberg will be pulling double duty at the trials. Fulton will be swimming in the 100-meter backstroke and the 100-meter butterfly. Goldberg will double-up with the 200- and 400-meter freestyles.
Freshman Andrew Engle is set the join Fulton in the 100-meter butterfly.
The fourth Tennessee Aquatics representative is sophomore Tyler Gustafson. Gustafson is qualified for the 100-meter freestyle.
Tennessee sophomore Casey Dauw is also competing at the trials but will be swimming for his home club team. Dauw will be participating in the 400-meter individual medley.
Two former Vols, Raymond Rosal (2003-04) and Paulo Machado (2001-03) have qualified to make their respective countries' Olympic teams. Rosal, who qualified for Venezuela and Machado for Brazil, are waiting to see if they are selected to be a representative on the 12-man teams.
