Behind the strength of an eight-hit complete game shutout of Stony Brook, Tennessee's Luke Hochevar was named to the 2004 All-Kinston Regional team. The sophomore pitcher was the only Vol named to the 11-member squad.
Hochevar struck out four in the 1-0 contest, becoming the first Vol since Jeffery Terrell tossed a no-hitter against Bowling Green State in 2002, to throw a complete game shutout. It was also the second 1-0 victory of the season for Tennessee which also blanked Georgia State by the same count earlier in the year.
Pitcher Greg Bunn was named the most outstanding player after striking out 11 in East Carolina's 7-0 regional championship victory over UNC-Wilmington. The Pirates advanced to a best-of-three super regional beginning Saturday at South Carolina. The winner of the super regional advances to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
