The Tennessee men's swimming and diving team travels to Virginia Saturday to face the 11th-ranked Cavaliers at the UVA Aquatic and Fitness Center.
Virginia has a dual meet record of 4-1 with a 2-0 record in the ACC. Last year the Cavaliers finished 10th at the NCAA Championships and were the ACC Champions. The Cavaliers have a 1-5 all-time record against the Vols with their lone win coming in Charlottesville in 2000.
"We are going into a very competitive environment against a great opponent with really no weaknesses," head coach John Trembley said. "This meet will start a challenging schedule which includes Virginia, top-ranked Auburn, No. 7-ranked Georgia, No. 5-ranked Florida and a very competitive North Carolina State team. This will be the most challenging dual meet run in our history."
This will end a long drought for the Vols, who haven't competed since the Nike Cup meet in Chapel Hill, N.C., back in November.
"The team is excited to get back to competition," co-captain Jamie Graves said. "We have been training hard and are focused on our goals. We swam Virginia really close next year, and we're expecting a tough meet."
