Edamerica and the University of Tennessee have recognized Gibril Wilson and Evan Nylander for their efforts in the field of competition and the classroom during November. Wilson was named Edamerica Athlete of the Month, while Nylander was named Edamerica Scholar-Athlete of the Month.

In the Vols' five November games, the hard hitter tallied nine pass breakups, six tackles for loss, two sacks and two interceptions. He exploded for 48.5 tackles and led the team in tackles in four of the month's five games.

Wilson had 10 tackles, three pass breakups and a sack in the Vols' 20-7 win to become the first Tennessee player this year to be named Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week. He now holds a half-tackle lead over linebacker Kevin Simon for first on Tennessee's tackle list with 90.5.
A senior on Tennessee's swimming and diving team, Nylander was named Edamerica Scholar-Athlete of the Month for November for his achievements in the classroom.
Nylander, who is from Tucker, Ga., is majoring in public administration and was a member of the Thornton Center Honor Roll this spring. He is also involved in the betterment of Tennessee's student-athletes, serving as the swimming and diving team's representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
In the pool, Nylander swims the freestyle and individual medley for the Aqua Vols. He finished 11th in last year's 800-meter freestyle at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America.
In this year's young season, he was second in the 200 freestyle at Indiana behind teammate Bryan Goldberg. He was fifth in the Nike Cup's 200-yard freestyle at Chapel Hill, N.C.
