KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee men's swimming and diving team hosts traditional power Indiana in its first home dual meet of the season. The two schools will meet for the first time Saturday at10:30 a.m. in the UT Student Aquatic Center.
"Indiana and Tennessee have two of the great traditions in swimming and diving, many gold medalists, world record holders and NCAA champions have come from both schools," head coach John Trembley said. "This is the first time these two teams will meet in dual meet competition. It will be very interesting to say the least."
Indiana is coming off a third-place finish in the Big Ten Chamionship, its best finish since 1997. The Hoosiers are a traditional power with six NCAA championships and 23 Big Ten titles.
"I'm really looking foward to this meet," assistant coach Joe Hendee said. "Both schools have a great swimming and diving tradition. This is the second year for their head coach, and their program is on the rise. It will be great to have the swimmers' families back [for the first home meet], and we are really looking foward to racing."
The Vols are returning home after a season-opening victory at Kentucky last Friday. Tennessee defeated the Wildcats 148-77.
"The team is excited and looking forward to some fast swims in preparation for Nike Cup," senior co-captain Jamie Graves said. "Our team's focused and we've been working hard."
