Vols to Compete in Georgia Diving Invitational

Knoxville, Tenn. - The Tennessee men's diving squad heads to Athens, Ga. for the 2003 Georgia Diving Invitational Jan. 3-5.
The diving competition kicks off Friday with the one-meter, the three-meter is on Saturday and platform concludes the competition Sunday. Preliminaries are held in the mornings with finals in the evenings.
"We just came off a training camp in Florida where we trained really hard," head diving coach Dave Parrington said. "We are going to use this meet as another competitive training opportunity were we can improve on the areas we have been working on."
The diving Vols are coming off a solid performance at the Minnesota Diving Invitational. Phillip Jones took the one-meter crown and placed second on the three-meter. Jake Dorsey placed fifth on platform and freshman John Venditti finished ninth on the one-meter.
"We are competing against a large number of divers," Parrington said. " This will be a very good test for our divers as we get ready for the championships."
